Evelyn the Band is a project started by Gregg Kirk in 2001. A former frontman and founder of Shovelhead (a Philly-based noise band that was briefly picked up by A&M Records in 1996), Kirk has assembled a revolving roster of musicians that spans both US coasts. He has collaborated with former Primus drummer Tim Alexander on a song you can hear on this website ("Sotto Voce"), and he is continuously generating music at his home recording studio, Studio Minimus in Norwalk, CT.

The only other thing you need to know about is absinthe. It's the fuel and inspiration for this project, and the combination has given birth to a song… "Tourmaline." If you'd like to find out more about absinthe, click here. If you're interested in purchasing absinthe, click here.

At this point we'd like to appeal to the part of you that hasn't already been desensitized by bad radio, worse TV, and intrusive marketing mentality. Everybody doesn't need to be a superstar, and everyone doesn't need to keep quoting Andy Warhol every 15 minutes. If there's something in you that's stirred when you hear someone say, "Don't do that… it'll make you crazy or possibly kill you…" then we're on the same wavelength.

There's nothing about this music that will harm you… but if there were some way we could've put poison in it… we would have. And, hopefully, knowing that, you'd still be curious in listening…

Good night.
